| 8/18/05 2:38:52 PM ... Fantastic explaination. Beats spending a load of money on something you can make yourself!
| 1/14/06 9:57:57 PM ... I think I will make my own now. Thanks very much for the information.
| 2/13/06 7:26:01 PM ... Looks GREAT!!! Can't wait to make it! Well written and excellent pics with no wasted BS.... My COMPLIMENTS!!! :)
| 7/27/06 11:43:34 AM ... Well done Andrew. I've made a few of these. Beats paying too much for something so simple
| 9/23/06 7:35:13 PM ... I can do that! Where was this teaching 15 years ago when I BOUGHT mine??
| 12/15/06 6:15:12 AM ... Others say the burr should be honed off the cutter. Anyone else got any experience?
| 12/30/06 12:12:15 PM ... Sure. The burr / hook can be taken completely off too. Gives a different, much smaller, chatter pattern. May not work at all on some woods either. Just give different things a try and see how it works with what you're working with.
| 2/7/07 4:32:55 AM ... OK. This is what you use. I had wondered for some time. Good job!
| 3/4/07 2:32:33 AM ... Well done. Good information guys. We here at the club know that you put a lot of work into giving out free articles and videos on your website without a lot of the BS on other sites. Helps us new turners out a lot!
| 3/4/07 9:02:12 AM ... I noticed that you had quite a different tool than the one pictured when you demo'd for us here in Georgia this past fall. Did you make that one too?
| 3/4/07 2:18:05 PM ... Made one of these myself and it works great! Followed your directions.
| 11/10/07 12:12:23 AM ... thanks!
| 5/30/08 3:25:47 PM ... Very well written, the pix all helped alot. The drawings at the end should answer anyones questions if they still have some. I will be making one this weekend. Thanks!!!
| 8/17/08 3:14:14 PM ... at what speed should the lathe be set ?
| 8/23/08 6:44:23 PM ... Like most of woodturning, it depends. Depends on what effect your wanting, stiffness of the tool, hardness of the wood, profile of the tool, and so on. For chatterwork, a slower speed will produce wider-spaced chatter marks … easier to see in most cases. If pressed, I'd say 1000 rpm? Make a pass … if it's not what you want … sand it off and try some other speed.
| 10/12/08 11:55:26 AM ... Very many thanks, what a money saver and an ace tool as well. It has solved my problems of adding a different surface finish for small coloured items
